May
Embark on a journey of discovery with the Reading Walks Festival 2024, running from the 11th to the 19th of May. With nearly 50 captivating walks spanning nine days, this festival promises to unveil the stories, heritage, and landscapes of Reading and its surrounding countryside through a series of guided walks.
At the heart of the Reading Walks Festival is a commitment to storytelling, enriching every step with the vibrant narratives of Reading’s past and present. Led by knowledgeable volunteer guides, each walk offers insights into the city’s history, culture, and natural beauty, making every stroll a memorable and enlightening experience. From leisurely one to two hour strolls to immersive two-day pilgrimages, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Organised by REDA (Reading’s Economy and Destination Agency), the festival is a celebration of community spirit and local pride. With walks planned and led by passionate volunteers, participants can expect to be guided by individuals deeply invested in sharing their love for Reading.
REDA, a Community Interest Company, spearheads the festival’s organisation. A huge thank you to the dedicated walk leaders, Reading BID and all others involved in making this festival a huge success.
The majority of walks are priced at just £3, making them accessible to all. A portion of the proceeds from each walk is reinvested into the festival, a not-for-profit enterprise dedicated to fostering community engagement and appreciation for Reading’s rich tapestry of stories.
With walks catering to all ages and abilities, the festival invites everyone to participate in this celebration of exploration and discovery. While walk leaders ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, participants are encouraged to respect any attire or fitness requirements specified for each walk, which are detailed online.
So, lace up your walking shoes, embrace the spirit of curiosity, and join us as we uncover the hidden treasures of Reading during the Reading Walks Festival 2024.
