Shepperton Studios has a long history in the film industry, with its roots stretching back to the early 1930s. Originally established as Normandy Studios in 1931, it was rebranded to Shepperton Studios in 1955. Over the decades, the studio has become a renowned hub for high-profile films and television productions, hosting major projects, including Star Wars, James Bond, and Harry Potter series.
As part of the Pinewood Group, Shepperton Studios benefits from strong industry ties and offers a dynamic environment with a variety of services. The studio site offers 31 sound stages, multiple backlots, post-production facilities, and support spaces, making it ideal for film, television, and commercial shoots. Shepperton Studios is 18 miles from Central London via the M3 and A316. By train, Shepperton Studios has regular services from London Waterloo, taking approx. 55 minutes.
For those jetting off after a bustling day at the studio, London Heathrow Airport is conveniently just 8 miles away, approx. a 20 minutes drive, with Gatwick Airport only 35 miles away, taking around 50 minutes by car.
Shepperton Studios is currently hosting several notable film and television productions. Filming for the fourth season of Netflix’s Bridgerton commenced in September 2024 at Shepperton Studios.
The film adaptation of Richard Osman’s bestseller, The Thursday Murder Club, produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment for Netflix, is underway at the studios.
Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling and Sandra Hüller, began filming at Shepperton Studios in mid-2024, utilising nine stages for this space-set production.
