Rebellion Studios was founded in 1992 by brothers Jason and Chris Kingsley in Oxford, England. Initially operating from their shared basement flat, the duo expanded their team to over fifty programmers, artists, and animators, eventually moving into a central Oxford studio. Their early work included developing titles for the Atari Jaguar system, such as “Checkered Flag” and “Alien vs Predator” in 1994. Over the years, Rebellion has grown into one of Europe’s largest independent multimedia studios, producing content across video games, film, TV, comics, and books.
Rebellion has also expanded into film and television production, establishing Rebellion Film Studios in Didcot, Oxfordshire. This facility, based in a former print works, underscores the company’s commitment to broadening its creative horizons beyond gaming.
