On Thursday 9th July, the House of Fisher team gathered at Newbury Racecourse for our annual summer party and a fantastic evening of racing, entertainment and Wild West fun.
The event attracted a huge turnout from across the business, with the #HOFfamily embracing the opportunity to spend time together away from the workplace. Many members of the team fully embraced the Wild West theme, arriving in cowboy and cowgirl hats, bandanas, checked shirts and boots, with some even completing their brilliant outfits with toy guns. They were certainly not alone, with racegoers throughout the course getting into the spirit and helping to create a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
The weather was perfectly suited to an evening in the Wild West, with glorious sunshine throughout the day and temperatures reaching 34°C. A collection of portable fans and a steady supply of refreshing drinks helped everyone cope with the heat, although even the soaring temperatures could not dampen the enthusiasm of the #HOFfamily.
With an excellent view across the racecourse, everyone was able to follow the action closely. Many also made their way down to the finish line, where the sound of the horses approaching and the excitement of a close finish could be fully appreciated.
Across the evening’s seven races, there were a few successful selections and some happy winners among the team, although plenty of bets proved rather less fortunate. Unfortunately, nobody left Newbury as a millionaire, but there was no shortage of friendly competition, laughter and discussion as everyone attempted to identify the next winner.
Away from the racing, the Wild West theme continued throughout the evening, with line dancing, hay bales and plenty of country-inspired entertainment. Members of the #HOFfamily joined in with the dancing, while others tested their balance and bravery on the mechanical bull. Some rides lasted longer than others, but all provided excellent entertainment for those watching!
Following the final race, the Wild West DJ kept the party going with a brilliant mixture of country classics, Dolly Parton and Shania Twain favourites, and imaginative country versions of modern songs. The team may already have been feeling the heat, but the dancing took things to another level. In true House of Fisher party style, nobody seemed to mind!
Most importantly, the evening provided a wonderful opportunity for colleagues from across all our teams to come together, celebrate House of Fisher and recognise the fantastic work carried out throughout the business.
It was also a chance to say one very big and heartfelt thank you to the entire #HOFfamily for their continued hard work, commitment and contribution to everything we achieve together.
