A Guinness World Record holder with a remarkable track of “extreme commuting” has set his sights on Reading, with House of Fisher proud to play host and support the challenge.
Adham Fisher will attempt to travel on Reading Buses’ entire network in the fastest possible time. To succeed, he must ride every different route and travel through every stop on each service, a feat expected to take between 72-96 hours. This will take him as far as Legoland Windsor and Central London on the 702.
Fisher is no stranger to extraordinary journeys. He has held the world records for visiting every station on the New York Subway, Paris Metro and Berlin U-Bahn, and once travelled on 199 different London bus routes in just 24 hours. His new attempt coincides with the 70th anniversary of Guinness World Records, making the challenge a timely celebration of human endeavour.
The idea began when he spotted House of Fisher’s serviced apartments during a visit to Reading. Sharing the same surname sparked a conversation, and the project quickly grew. Now, with support from House of Fisher, Reading BID, Reading Buses and Bus Users UK (Catch The Bus Month), the challenge is ready to roll.
Whilst embarking on his odyssey, he will enjoy a restful stay at House of Fisher’s flagship aparthotel 100 Kings Road, in Reading. To help him on his way, a welcome pack, including a branded T-shirt and cap, has been prepared to accompany him throughout his travels.
Fisher says: “This time it’s all in the name. It will be Fisher and Fisher. It’s only the first time I have been able to say that. I know I will be discovering some marvellous things about Reading and Berkshire during this pursuit.”
Trine Oestergaard Stafford, Managing Director at House of Fisher, says: “It feels very fitting to have a ‘Fisher’ staying with House of Fisher for this unique challenge. Just like Adham, we are focused, meticulous and driven, qualities that help us remain the leading serviced apartment operator in the Thames Valley. We’re delighted to host him in Reading and support a public transport endeavour that brings a real spotlight to our town.”
The challenge will take place from Friday 26th of Sept to Monday 29th of Sept. Fisher hopes it will inspire others to travel more buses during Catch The Bus Month in September, and shine a light on Reading’s connectivity and attractions.
