About Shinfield Studios
Shinfield Studios’ journey commenced in March 2021 when planning approval was granted for four temporary film stages, completed by November 2021. By June of the same year, a comprehensive planning proposal was submitted to establish a permanent film/TV production hub, spanning over 65 acres within Thames Valley Science Park, Shinfield, with full planning permission granted by December 2021.
Fast forward to June 2024 and 1 million sq. ft Shinfield Studios, is fully operational. 18 fully soundproofed, state-of-the-art stages make this a powerhouse of British film, TV production and innovation. Two studios are the biggest in the United Kingdom at a staggering 43,000 sq.ft.
Impressively, accessibility and sustainability have been at the heart of the design. Accessible facilities have been incorporated into every stage and office floor. Sustainable infrastructure, such as the use of air source heat pumps, solar panels and electric vehicle charging points, are also featured throughout the facility.

Shinfield Studios is owned and operated by Shadowbox Studios, a prominent independent global studio platform owned by affiliates of Commonwealth Asset Management and Silver Lake.
Shinfield Studios is located within the Thames Valley Science Park, adjacent to the M4 motorway. It’s about a 20 minute bus ride from Reading town centre and 30 minutes by train to central London, with approximately 200 daily train services.
For those jetting off after a bustling day at the studio, London Heathrow Airport is conveniently less than a half-hour drive away or reachable within an hour via train.
Reportedly, Leslye Headland’s latest live-action Star Wars series has already started filming on the outdoor set at Shinfield Studios, according to online sources. This development brings exciting news for the enthusiastic local Star Wars fan base!
The studio is a staggering one million square feet and includes 18 sound stages, workshops, an office, and a post-production facility.
