Throughout August, colleagues from House of Fisher and parent company T A Fisher came together for a series of weekly charity cake sales in memory of Jane Yamamoto, the much-loved Office Manager at Theale Court, who sadly passed away in August 2025 following a short battle with cancer.

The first cake sale took place on 5th August, marking the first anniversary of Jane’s passing, with further sales held every Wednesday throughout the month.

A fitting tribute to Jane

Jane loved cake and people. She regularly generously treated everyone at Theale Court by bringing in fantastic cakes on Wednesdays, brightening up everyone’s day. It therefore felt particularly fitting to remember her by continuing a tradition that brought so much happiness to the office.

Jane was remembered by her colleagues as charismatic, eccentric and, above all, a genuinely lovely person. As Office Manager for both House of Fisher and T A Fisher, she was a familiar and much-loved presence who made a lasting impression on people throughout both businesses and is missed dearly.

The Great Theale Bake Off

Each Wednesday, volunteer bakers from across House of Fisher and T A Fisher filled the kitchen with an impressive selection of homemade treats.

The month’s creations included lemon drizzle cake, carrot cake muffins, banana cake, chocolate tiffin, rocky roads, cinnamon pastries from one of Jane’s favourite bakeries and several particularly indulgent cheesecakes.

There was plenty of friendly competition among the bakers, but the real focus was on bringing everyone together and raising as much as possible for a meaningful cause. Colleagues enthusiastically supported each sale, with those unable to visit the Theale office even asking for their favourite cakes to be set aside or delivered to Reading.

The response was fantastic. Thanks to the generosity of everyone who baked, bought and donated, the four cake sales raised an amazing £395 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Thank you to everyone who took part

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone from House of Fisher and T A Fisher who baked, donated and helped make each weekly sale such a success.

The enthusiasm shown throughout August was a wonderful reflection of the affection felt for Jane and the impact she had on so many people. We hope she would have been proud of the fantastic cakes, the generosity of her colleagues and, most importantly, the difference made in her memory.
