# Step Into Autumn: Discover the Best Local Walks Near Your House of Fisher Stay

There is something particularly lovely about getting outside in autumn. The air is cooler, the leaves are changing colour and many of our local parks, woodland trails and riverside paths are at their best.

Whether you are staying with House of Fisher for work, relocating to the area or enjoying a few days away, a walk is a simple way to unwind, stretch your legs and explore somewhere new.

With accommodation across Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey, there are plenty of great walking routes within easy reach of our apartments, from riverside paths and canal walks to woodland trails and open countryside.

## Reading

Reading offers a great mix of riverside walks, green spaces and longer countryside routes.

The Thames Path is a popular choice, with sections running through and around the town, while walks along the River Kennet offer a quieter alternative. If you have more time, you can also head towards Caversham, Mapledurham or Pangbourne for a longer route.

Our Reading walking guide includes a range of options, including the Reading Town River and Canal Circular and stretches of the Thames Path.

Our 100 Kings Road and City Wall House aparthotels are both well placed for exploring the town and surrounding area.

## Bracknell

Autumn is a particularly good time to explore Bracknell's woodland and green spaces.

Swinley Forest is one of the best-known local spots, with miles of woodland trails to explore as the leaves begin to turn. Our Bracknell walking guide also includes routes around Binfield and a number of local parks and open spaces.

Whether you fancy a short afternoon stroll or something a little longer, there are plenty of options nearby.

## Newbury

For a relaxed autumn walk, the Kennet and Avon Canal is hard to beat.

The canal runs through Newbury town centre, making it easy to pick up the towpath and enjoy a gentle waterside walk. Head east towards Thatcham or west towards Kintbury and Hungerford for a longer route.

Our Newbury walking guide also includes the River Kennet Canal Circular and walks around Beacon Hill and Burghclere, giving you a good choice of both easy and more energetic routes.

It is also a lovely time of year to keep an eye out for local wildlife along the canal and surrounding countryside.

## Basingstoke

Basingstoke has a good mix of parks, countryside and historic walking routes.

Our local guide includes walks around Cliddesden and Ellisfield, the War Memorial and Costello Trail, and routes around Preston Candover and Bradley.

Closer to the town centre, Eastrop Park is ideal for a shorter walk, with paths alongside the River Loddon and plenty of open space to enjoy.

For guests staying in Basingstoke, it is an easy way to get outside without having to travel far.

## Farnborough

Farnborough may be best known for aviation and business, but there are plenty of green spaces and walking routes nearby too.

Our Farnborough guide includes the Farnborough Airport Circular, Hart Hill Trail and Cove Brook Walk, offering a mix of shorter strolls and longer routes.

Nearby woodland and riverside areas are also particularly attractive during autumn, making them a great option if you want some fresh air after a day at work or a busy day out.

Our Camberley walking guide includes Hawley Woods and walks alongside the River Blackwater, both of which offer plenty of opportunities to enjoy the changing colours of the season.

You can also explore Hawley Meadows and Blackwater Park for a gentle circular walk through a mixture of meadow and woodland.

## After Your Walk

One of the nicest things about an autumn walk is having somewhere comfortable to return to afterwards.

Many of the routes featured in our guides pass cafés, pubs and restaurants, giving you plenty of opportunities to stop for a coffee, lunch or something warming along the way.

Alternatively, head back to your House of Fisher apartment, put your feet up and enjoy the space and comfort of your own kitchen and living area.
