When staying at House of Fisher in Farnborough, here are seven things we recommend you must do:

Learnt about aviation history at the Air Science Trust Museum

1. Learn about aviation history at the Air Science Trust Museum

The Air Science Trust Museum houses a wonderful and extensive collection of aircraft, satellites, simulators and even a wind tunnel which was built to be used as a tool in aerodynamic research.  Farnborough’s aviation history is notorious for its contributions to the development of aeronautical science, such as the creation of the first airborne cameras and flying clothing. When visiting The Air Science Trust Museum you will be able to get an amazing understanding of aircraft as you view all the parts from the nose sections to the cockpits. Make sure you check out the full size replica of the Cody Flyer which was a pivotal turning point in the development of the aviation industry with it being the first air powered controlled flight in the UK which took place in Farnborough.

If you would like to pick up some memorable or historical souvenirs then head on over to the FAST museum shop located on site, pick up a range of publications, photos, models and toys, you can even get some books about the Cody Flyer so don’t miss that opportunity.

Located a 3 minute drive from our serviced apartments at Equinox Place & Solstice House, we would definitely recommend going for a day to learn about some of the pivotal turning points in aviation history. Parking is available on site and is free.

Princes Mead, Farnborough’s shopping centre, is packed with loads of shops to help you enjoy a fun day out.  It has you covered on finding some funky new clothes to wear and something nice to eat, keeping you fueled on your shopping packed day.  Enjoy one of Princes Mead’s many events such as the Christmas grotto or one of the performances from some outstanding artists, details of which can be found on the Princes Mead website (events are subject to change).  As for a store, we would recommend Yours who supply the best plus sized clothes loved by the nation.  With sizes ranging from 16 to 36, we at House of Fisher support their message of “Fashion should be available for everyone, no matter what shape, dress size or age they are”.

Princes Mead has you covered should you get hungry on your shopping spree, as they have a Costa Coffee, Burger King and a Subway offering you lots of variety for whatever entices your taste buds.

3. Tuck into a lovely meal at Kingfisher on The Quay

Kingfisher is a stunning place to sit down and have a delicious meal.   Positioned on the side of a lake, with seating looking out over the picture-perfect freshwater lake, you will enjoy an amazing viewing experience while enjoying your meal.  The decor is inspired by the underwater world which adds to the meal, giving you a sense of peacefulness, and two large log fires to keep you warm on a winter’s night.  If you dine during the day, your viewing experience will be enhanced as you enjoy the entertainment of observing a wide range of water sports.  As for meals, we would definitely recommend you try the pan-seared haddock fillet served with garlic roasted new potatoes and tenderstem broccoli.  Why not wash it down with a bottle of Santa Rita Gran Hacienda from Chile, a full-bodied Sauvingnon Blanc?
